Our Story
Committed to Excellence
Tim Day was the pioneer of Journey to Zero, cycling solo for 10 days to make it to Munich on the 16th of June 2023. He was joined by Joachim Rupp for a couple of days of cycling along the Rhine river to the historic city of Heidelberg.
In 2024, Tim was joined by Frank Dekker, and together they founded the Journey to 0 and cycled the whole journey from London to Munich across France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany to arrive in Munich on the 17th June, ready for Intersolar. Joachim again joined for a stage and also guided the group ride in Frankfurt, culminating at the European Central Bank with a Meet and greet with the Head of Climate Change and her team from the ECB.
In 2025, Joachim joined as a co-organiser and, together with Tim and Frank, cycled along an entirely new route, from Paris through France and Switzerland to once again finish in Munich. All the while, 5 new meet-ups meant professionals can network and meet with industry leaders and spread the message of zero fossil fuels through pedal power.
For Journey to Zero, 2026 is a shift toward a more flexible format to give everyone the chance to build their own journey. With regional rides (UK, NL, Germany, etc.) converging in Munich before Intersolar. This was inspired by the feedback and approaches - Felix organising a ride from Berlin to Munich and Juan organising a ride in Buenos Aires …. All the while keeping the spirit of the ride: adventure, purpose, community.
