Day 7: Bacharach to Großheubach – Meeting The European Central Bank.

Today's leg of our Journey to Zero took us from Bacharach to Großheubach, with a significant stop in Frankfurt. Along the way, we had the privilege of meeting Irene Heemskerk and the climate change team at the European Central Bank.

Before arriving in Frankfurt which was the halfway point of our day, we cycled along the North side of the Rhein and discovered climate change in action as a lot of the roads were flooded from the rising water levels. We crossed the river on a small ferry before rolling through the countryside and even ended up with a police escort stopping 4 lanes of traffic to escort us at one point in the morning; this was unexpected and very funny (it’s a story to be told over a beverage).

Meeting our friends Maria Calvo Mora Koch and Martin Supancic who joined us for this leg of the day; cycling through the vibrant city of Frankfurt was an exciting experience, we finished our Frankfurt ride at the European Central Bank. Irene and the ECB team were inspiring and we had an amazing discussion; their dedication to addressing climate change reinforced the importance of our mission. (They also brought us great cakes)!

Continuing to Großheubach, we enjoyed the picturesque German landscapes and reflected on the progress we've made. Each day brings us closer to Munich and our goal of promoting sustainability and net zero.

Today we say goodbye to Marleen Dekker-Hansum Christiaan van de Kolk MBA and Christiaan Daniels and welcome our new support guru Jonathan Dodd

Thank you for following and supporting us. Onwards to Day 8! See you on the road.
