Day 9: Rot am See to Wemding – Trials and Tribulations on the Road

Today’s leg of our Journey to Zero, from Rot am See to Wemding, was one of the most challenging days yet. The morning greeted us with relentless rain and wind, setting a tough tone for the ride ahead.

As the weather improved, Frank Dekker and I started to crank thru the km’s and we were finally drying out when my bike suffered two punctures. The first was fixed on the road and then at a repair shop, but the inner tube wasn’t up to it and didn’t hold. With all shops closing early on Saturday, we had to fix with a smaller tube and hobble to our destination. The next six hours were spent unsuccessfully trying to fix the issue myself.

Frustration has been the theme of the day, and a new plan is needed tomorrow after some much-needed rest. Despite the difficulties, we’re pushing forward with our commitment to the Journey to Zero.

Thank you for following and supporting us through these highs and lows. Onwards to Day 10! Munich is close!
