It’s a bank holiday or Labour Day here in Europe and day 8 of our ride.

We have ended up in Hagenthal-le-Bas and it’s been a flat, hot “recovery day” with a sprinkle of international flair.
We sped through France, into Germany, back to France, into Germany again, into Switzerland… and finally back to France; five border crossings in one day was quite amazing.
We passed near Fessenheim, home to what was once Europe’s oldest operating nuclear power plant, which began operation in 1977. A reminder of the energy systems we’re leaving behind and the clean future we’re cycling toward.
Rolling into Basel was a true highlight: vibrant, historic and a buzzy ride along the river.
Tomorrow, the hills return; but for now, we’re soaking up the moment and the mission.
I also want to say good luck to Felix Krause and his crew who are creating their own JT0 as they set off tomorrow from Berlin to cycle to Intersolar and Munich. Safe cycling Felix and we will meet you in Munich to celebrate.
See you on the road.
